Mahesh Pai is a Consultant Vascular and General Surgeon with over 30 years of clinical experience, bringing particular depth of expertise to the treatment of varicose veins and venous conditions. He has spent more than 15 years refining his use of minimally invasive, percutaneous techniques for venous disease, offering patients modern alternatives to traditional surgery including endovenous laser ablation, radiofrequency ablation, and foam sclerotherapy.

After completing his medical training in Mumbai, Pai pursued specialist vascular training across two leading UK centres before undertaking an endovascular fellowship at a hospital in Adelaide, Australia, where he developed advanced skills in the endovascular treatment of aortic conditions. Returning to the UK, he conducted postgraduate research into arterial disease at the University of London, which led to the award of his MD. He was appointed as an NHS consultant in 2007 and has held that position ever since, currently serving at both Southmead Hospital, Bristol and the Royal United Hospital, Bath.

Beyond his clinical work, Pai holds several positions that reflect the trust placed in him by the surgical community. He serves as an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, acts as Governance Lead for the Bristol, Bath and Weston Vascular Network, and has previously served as Director of the AAA Screening Programme for the same region. He is also an active surgical educator, tutoring both medical students and junior doctors at the Royal United Hospital.

Patients consistently describe Pai as calm, thorough and easy to communicate with, someone who ensures they understand every step of their care before, during and after treatment.
