No need for local anesthesia
Foam treatment involves foaming up a liquid medical preparation (Aethoxysklerol) with air, and injecting it directly into the relevant veins through a very thin needle. Aethoxysklerol chemically affects the inside of the vein so that it contracts and the blood flow stops. The foaming preparation increases the contact surface with the inside of the vein and thus increases the effectiveness.
Local anesthesia is not used because the needle is very thin and does not cause significant discomfort. Foam is used alone and in combination with other treatment methods.
